Breast Lift
As a woman ages, breast skin will lose its elasticity and the breasts will develop ptosis or drooping will develop ptosis or drooping , which is more pronounced when the breast has larger volume.
In situations where a patient already has ptosis and is considering augmentation of the breast, the ptosis should be corrected before or at the same time the breast volume is increased in order to avoid more pronounced nipple malposition.
The name of the surgery to correct breast ptosis is called mastopexy. Mastopexy surgery may involve repositioning of the areola complex, as well as lifting the breast tissue and removing skin.
A mastopexy may be performed as a separate procedure, or in combination with placement of breast implants. However, when the procedures are combined, the length of the surgery is longer and achieving symmetry can be more difficult.
