Biography
Dr. Chandler graduated from Harvard College after which she pursued a master’s degree in teaching. She then completed medical school and general surgery residency at Stanford University at which time she also earned a Master of Science in Health Policy. She completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she honed her skills and deepened her commitment to advancing the treatment of breast cancer.
Her research interests are diverse, encompassing health services, clinical outcomes, and quality improvement. Dr. Chandler's prior work has focused on innovative surgical techniques to enhance outcomes following nipple-sparing mastectomy, as well as patient-reported outcomes after breast conserving therapy. Additionally, she has a keen clinical interest in addressing the unique needs of young women with breast cancer.
Dr. Chandler's dedication to education is evident in her background as a high school math teacher prior to pursuing a career in medicine. She brings extensive experience in working with medical students and residents, particularly in the realm of patient-provider communication. Dr. Chandler is eager to engage with trainees at all levels, sharing her passion for breast surgical oncology and fostering the next generation of compassionate and skilled surgeons.
