Gregory Victorino Named Outstanding Physician of the Year by Alameda Health System
Gregory P. Victorino, M.D., Professor of Surgery and Director of Trauma Services for the UCSF-East Bay Surgery Program*, was named Named Outstanding Physician for 2016 by Alameda Health System. The award was presented at the AHS Foundation's Annual Gala on May 7, 2016. The Alameda Health System Foundation wrote on its website:
Dr. Gregory P. Victorino planted his roots in the Bay Area after completing his surgical internship and residency at the University of California, Davis – East Bay in 1998, as well as a trauma-critical care fellowship at the University of California, Davis. When he began working at Highland Hospital in 2000, it felt like home. He became Chief of the Trauma Division in 2003. Dr. Victorino graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Driven by the mission of Alameda Health System, he is dedicated to teaching new physicians and has saved countless lives leading the Trauma Division.
* Since the presentation of this award, Dr. Victorino has been named interim Chief of the UCSF - East Bay Surgery Program, Interim Chair of the Department of Surgery, Alameda Health System with the retirement of of the former Chief, now Professor Emeritus of Surgery, Alden H. Harken, M.D.
