Courtney Green, MD Receives 2019 American College of Surgeons Resident Teaching Award
Courtney Green, MD, a general surgery resident at UCSF, received the 2019 American College of Surgeons (ACS) Resident Award for Exemplary Teaching at the ACS Clinical Congress Annual Business Meeting of Members on October 30th.
The prestigious award was in recognition for Dr. Green's excellence in teaching and her outstanding committment to surgical education.The award is sponsored by the Division of Education and the winners are selected by an independent review panel of the Committee on Resident Education. Dr. Green was presented the award by Valerie W. Rusch, MD, FACS, President of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Green received her medical degree from University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, MN and is currently a Chief Resident at UCSF. Her research interests center around education and teaching, including improving surgical curricula and understanding how new technologies can augment surgical training.
Over the course of her training, Dr. Green has benefited from the excellent mentorship of Dr. Linda Reilly, Dr. Patricia O'Sullivan, Dr. Huey Chern, and Dr. Ed Kim. After completion of her residency, Dr. Green plans to pursue an academic career in surgical critical care and acute care.
